Aldan Union Church- A bulwark of the Community

Founded: July 14, 1915, The church met at Neighbor's Hall until the Church of Christ building on Woodlawn Avenue vacated in 1920.

By 1922, the congregation had grown out of the small building and a lot became available on Providence Road and Clifton Avenue.

In this photograph from 1990, you can see how huge the congregation had become since 1915.

  1. The building in the photo was completed in 1962 or 1963.

I went to elementary school across the street from this church from 1960-66, and can remember the cranes "chomping" the houses that were previously on this site.

    1. Tip: Never say "no way".

50 years? Then you arrived just after it was built in 1963. So the photo could not have been from the 1950s.

I think it was from around 1990, because I remember posing for that (or a similar) photo around then.
